Altena has been the heart of Germany's wire and metal industry for over 100 years. Those who work here come for assembly, maintenance and installation jobs – and need reliable accommodation close to the plants.
Altena – the "wire town" – and the surrounding Lenne valley are packed with wire-drawing mills, cold-rolling plants and metal processors. There is constant demand for external fitters for machinery and maintenance work.
Around Altena, Lüdenscheid and Werdohl sits one of the strongest clusters of mid-sized automotive suppliers and electrical engineering firms in NRW – with regular project and assembly assignments.
Short distances between plants: from Altena you can reach the industrial estates across the entire Märkischer Kreis district in under 30 minutes – ideal for changing work sites.

Haus Burgstadt started here. Altena is our home base to this day — the first apartments grew into a network of 20+ apartments.
Drought summers and bark beetle: countless forests around Altena had to be cleared and replanted at enormous effort. The forestry crews and many companies involved slept at our places.
The biggest Altena project of those years — many new companies were built. At times more than 60 people stayed with us at once to build the park and its firms.
In the flood disaster, families lost their homes and found shelter with us. Afterwards, many of those working on the reconstruction lived in our apartments.
The new district archive, the technologically advanced sewage plant, fibre-optic roll-out: in and around Altena we have housed companies from many trades.

Our apartments in Altena are set up for teams: a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, a washing machine for longer assignments, fast Wi-Fi for the paperwork – and a video-monitored car park for company vehicles and tools.
High above the town sits Burg Altena – the castle where the world's first youth hostel was founded in 1914. After your shift, the Lenne valley, the old town and the surrounding Sauerland forests are ideal for winding down. Shops, restaurants and petrol stations are all just a few minutes away.
